These terms cover your use of FairShare. By creating an account or joining a trip, you agree to them.
FairShare is a record-keeping tool for shared expenses. You enter what was spent and who it was for; FairShare works out the balances and suggests who should pay whom to settle up.
FairShare is not a payment service, a bank, or a financial adviser. It never holds, transfers or processes money. Every settlement it suggests is a suggestion — the actual payment happens between you and the other person, by whatever means you choose. We are not a party to any debt between members of a trip, and we do not mediate disputes about them.
You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in secure. Give accurate information when you sign up. One account per person — do not share credentials with someone else; add them to the trip instead.
Anyone holding a trip's join code can join that trip and see everything in it. Treat a code like the key to that ledger and share it only with people you intend to include. If you create a trip, you are responsible for who you invite into it.
Expenses you enter are visible to every member of that trip, and members can edit and delete trip data — including entries made by others — because a shared ledger only works if the group can correct it.

What you put into FairShare stays yours. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service: to store your content, and to show it to the members of the trips you put it in. We claim no ownership of it and will not use it for anything else.
You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter. FairShare computes balances from the numbers it is given; it cannot know whether a bill was really ₱2,880.80 or who really ate what.
FairShare's arithmetic is designed to be exact, and its allocations always sum to the total of the expense. But the split it produces is only as correct as the inputs, and money between friends is ultimately settled by the people involved. If members of a trip disagree about who owes what, that is between you; FairShare's records may help, but they do not decide the matter.
We aim to keep FairShare running, but we do not guarantee it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or discontinue features. If we were ever to shut the service down, we would give reasonable notice and a way to export your data.
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, for lost data or profits, or for any dispute, debt or payment between members of a trip. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have paid us for the service — which, for a free app, is nothing.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
You can stop using FairShare and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other users at risk. Sections 5, 8 and 10 survive termination.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. If you use FairShare as a consumer elsewhere, this does not remove the protections of your local law.
We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will update the date above and tell you in the app. Continuing to use FairShare after a change means you accept the new terms.
